The 2011 – 2012 class of scholars is made up of 72 young women from five different all girls Catholic schools in the Chicagoland area. Throughout the year our scholars will participate in Madonna Scholars’ Programs that will aid in their enhancement of leadership and life skills. We are looking forward to another great school year with some amazing young women.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, is often referred to as Madonna, which is where the Franciscan Sisters derived the name of Madonna High School and now the Madonna Foundation. Despite the many obstacles she faced Mary lived a life filled with courage and passion, always seeking the truth and acting righteously. Mary is the ultimate teacher and role model for our scholars. From her they can learn to be courageous, even in the face of adversity, to act passionately towards those around them and to always do the right thing. They can learn to live a life of faith and honesty. For our scholars, it starts with today; they have the courage to seek a quality education, they have the courage to build a foundation for a successful future.
