Madonna High School Alumnae

The Madonna High School mural pictured here was a longstanding gem in the hearts of Madonna High School administration, faculty, students, alumnae and the community that surrounded Madonna High School for many years. Painted by twelve Madonna High School students under the guidance of renowned artist Oscar Romero, the mural represents a woman’s journey through life. Work on the mural began in August of 1997 and ended when the mural was dedicated and blessed on December 4, 1997. It was 90 feet long and 14 feet tall and was painted on the exterior east wall of the school building. This mural is a mosaic of diverse women dedicated to the timeless disciplines of education, spirituality and athletics. Its vivid colors and depictions define the importance of prayer, intelligence and care of the earth. Respect for the world and for life are at its center and religion is its balance. This mural was the result of faith, confidence and courage and became a symbol of love to all members of the Madonna High School community.

Although the mural no longer sits on the side of the building its legacy lives on through you, our Madonna High School alumnae. Through the amazing things that each of you are doing with your life, through the strong faith that each of you hold, through the respect and care that each of you have for the world around you and through the bonds of sisterhood that were formed at Madonna High School that will never be broken. You are the lasting, living representation of all that Madonna High School had to offer.
