Reminders for Current Scholars

Family Orientation

The Madonna Foundation hosts our annual Family Orientation on a Sunday in August and welcomes 65+ scholars and families.  We are able to meet with scholars and family members and introduce them to the Madonna Scholar Program and all the services provided by the Foundation.

Lunch & Learns

The Lunch & Learn Series is designed to provide our scholars with skills and knowledge in a variety of areas, such as Communication, Leadership, Skill Development, and College Readiness.  We meet with our scholars every semester to cover a variety of topics that center around skill development.

College Visits

Madonna Scholars (Freshman - Senior) and family members participate in 2 college visits each year, where scholars learn about the application process, financial aid, scholarships, academic programs and student life.

See photos below from our visit to

Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, WI.

ACT

All junior year Madonna Scholars are offered an exciting opportunity to participate in a FREE ACT online prep class program provided by the Princeton Review.  This program includes (7) 2-hour prep sessions and (2) practice ACT tests, where scholars learn tips, strategies, and techniques needed to be successful with their ACT Test.

FASFA College Application Workshop

Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago provides an excellent and informative presentation on Financial Aid for college. Our scholars and family members learn about the FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which is the form that determines your financial aid from the government and most colleges.  Our presenters cover:

  • Timeline for FAFSA

  • Documents needed

  • Grants, loans, additional scholarships

  • Additional verification

  • Q/A’s

STEAM in the Classroom

Virtual STEAM Program: Argonne in the Classroom

The Madonna Foundation partners with Argonne National Laboratory to host our STEAM Program.  Our Scholars participate in a networking event “Argonne in the Classroom” and learn about the education and career journeys of female professionals working in the STEAM field at Argonne National Laboratory.

Christmas with a Cause (SERVICE)

The Madonna Scholars come together in December for a Christmas Celebration/Service Project. In the true Christmas spirit of giving, scholars create a holiday item/gift to donate to a designated charity.

See photos below from a Christmas service project, where our scholars created tie-blankets and donated them to the children of St. Jude House. St. Jude House provides services to victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their dependent children.

Smart Money/ Financial Literacy

Smart Money Program presented by Wintrust Bank

All scholars participate in an annual financial planning workshop.  These programs help scholars understand their money values and how they influence financial decisions.

Leadership Workshop

Scholars participate in leadership conferences.  Through these experiences, scholars have the opportunity to learn about leadership styles, while developing and enhancing professional skills

Career Visits

Madonna Foundation is excited to partner with Automated Business Design and Andersen Tax to host (2) Career Day visits for Junior/Senior Scholars.  Our scholars will have the opportunity to network with professionals from both organizations and learn about their various career paths.  They will also learn about their Summer Internship opportunities.

Graduation

The Madonna Foundation looks forward to celebrating our graduating Seniors. We will join together in May, with our scholars, their families, school liaisons, and supporters to celebrate our Madonna Scholar Graduates and all of their achievements.
