Scholar Spotlight: Cyndy Zukowski
The Madonna Scholarship Foundation has given me the most wonderful opportunity – to attend a Catholic high school.
Our Summer Scholar Spotlight is on Cyndy Zukowski of Resurrection High School. Cyndy will be a Junior in the fall. She describes her time at Resurrection as “a wonderful learning experience,” and knows that by working hard now she will be able to reach her next goal: college. Cyndy believes attending a single-gender high school helps her focus on her studies and has helped her gain confidence.
Cyndy lives on the northwest side of Chicago with her mom, dad, and younger brother. Both of Cyndy’s parents emigrated from Poland, and her family celebrates several Polish holidays in addition to American holidays. Cyndy feels fortunate to visit Poland every other summer to visit her grandparents. This summer, Cyndy took a two-week American Sign Language class at Resurrection. She also enjoyed 4th of July weekend at Wisconsin Dells with her family.
Cyndy is thankful to the Madonna Foundation for giving her the opportunity to attend a school like Resurrection. Cyndy and her family show their appreciation by being active in the Madonna Foundation Family. Cyndy and her family come to almost every Madonna event, and always volunteer to stay late to help out. Cyndy has shown her support for the Madonna Foundation by volunteering to stuff envelopes for our Christmas mailing and donating a painting she created in art class. The artwork was auctioned off at First Look for Charity, the charity event of the Chicago Auto Show, and the proceeds benefited the Madonna Foundation.
Cyndy is currently undecided on which college she will attend, but is thinking about studying art, language, or accounting. She is an A student and part of the Honor Society at Resurrection.
