Scholar Spotlight: Delia Montoya
The Madonna Scholarship Program has enabled me to receive a great education which is the base of a meaningful and successful life.
Trinity Class of 2015
The Spring 2015 Madonna Scholar Spotlight is on Delia Montoya, a senior at Trinity High School. She is enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, a globally recognized honors curriculum. She is on the school’s honor roll and is a Spanish National Honor Society member. She also served on the Track & Field Team and Spanish in Action Club. This past summer, she had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica on a community service trip. While there, she fell in love with the business of coffee, agriculture, and global economics. Currently, Delia lives on the northwest side of Chicago with her mom, dad, and her cats. Being an animal lover, she also volunteers at her local cat shelter where she helps socialize rescued cats to help get them ready for adoption.
Delia is thankful to the Madonna Foundation for giving her the financial opportunity to attend a single-gender high school. She whole-heartedly believes it has allowed her to focus on her academics and has helped her become a confident young woman. She also credits the Foundation with teaching her service and leadership through the many different events and trips available to Madonna scholars.
Delia is currently waiting on her college acceptance letters, but in the meantime, she is dreaming of a future in international business, with the goal of perhaps becoming a green coffee buyer and traveling back to Costa Rica, as well as traveling the rest of the world.
