Scholar Spotlight: Lupita Gonzalez
The Fall 2013 Madonna Scholar Spotlight is on Lupita Gonzales, Josephinum Class of 2014.
Last summer, Lupita completed her second year in a 3-year summer internship program at Lurie Children’s Hospital. The Summer Youth Mentorship and Promotion of Literacy (SYMPL) scholarship program provides high school students the opportunity to work with physicians, learn about careers in medicine, and become involved in community service and literacy promotion.
The internship is 20 hours / 5 days a week during the summer. Lupita has enjoyed her time reading with children and shadowing pediatricians. She likes working with children, and plans on studying psychiatry or medicine in college. To learn more about the SYMPL program, see the Lurie Children’s Hospital website.
Lupita is on the honor roll and in the National Honor Society at Josephinum. This is her 4th and final year as a Madonna Scholar.
